Referee Development and Coaching
The MASO Soccer Official Development Program is a means for evaluating and developing soccer referees. It involves a certified, unbiased assessor observing a referee's performance during a match to provide feedback on aspects like:
Match control and consistency in foul recognition and application of the rules.
Fitness and positioning.
Communication with fellow game officials as well as players and coaches.
This feedback helps officials improve and is a key requirement for referee growth from an Associate Referee to Regional Referee and then State Referee. All of our State Referees need to request an assessment once a year in the Center Referee or Assistant Referee position. All Regional Referees must schedule an assessment to upgrade to State Referee.
The number one purpose of the MASO assessment program is to improve the skill level of all MASO referees to provide the schools with the most competent referees to officiates their matches. We can accomplish this by ongoing observation and coaching sessions with individual or small groups of officials.
HOW TO SCHEDULE A COACHING SESSION:
Contact any one of the referee coaches listed below, giving them ample time to check their own schedules.
